There's still a lot of WP&YR-related sights to see even though scheduled service to Whitehorse ended in October of 1982. This is the station, currently occupied by several businesses including the Yukon Quest sled dog race. Visit the Whitehorse Webcam with the depot in the distance.
The Whitehorse roundhouse. Railroad buildings that house locomotives are called roundhouses even when they aren't round. Some in Whitehorse would like to see the building demolished.
The MacBride Museum in Whitehorse covers many topics including transportation and the WP&YR. Here is Engine 51, built in 1881, retired in 1941 and now on display.
Log Cabin, a location along both the historic White Pass Trail of 1898, the WP&YR line and today's Klondike Highway, is commemorated as well at the MacBride Museum.
Along the old WP&YR right-of-way along the shore of the Yukon River in Whitehorse, there is new track being laid in the summer of 2000. It's for the Whitehorse Trolley. In 2000, $1.00 Canadian (a Looney) will give you a ride over the mile or so of track on the trolley.
The Whitehorse trolley is housed in the old WP&YR roundhouse, hopefully giving the building a purpose and again hopefully preventing the building's demolition. The trolley is electric but has no overhead wires to power it. So for 2000 at least, it tows its own portable diesel-powered generator.

Trolley stop adjacent to the old WP&YR station.

The SS Klondike once proudly took passengers from Whitehorse on to Dawson. Run by British Yukon Navigation, it was a subsidiary of the WP&YR. Now it's managed by Parks Canada.

2000 marked a festive time for Whitehorse as it celebrated its 50th anniversary.
Here's the first class lounge of the SS Klondike, one of the areas visitors get to see on the tour.
The first class dining area is just behind the lounge area.
First class SS Klondike accommodations were quite nice. The framed picture on the wall has the WP&YR initials.
