I've had the opportunity to work in Skagway Alaska during the five-month summer season in the years 1998 through 2000, a special time for the city and many of its businesses. These were years filled with centennials—the Klondike gold rush, Skagway's incorporation, and several for the White Pass and Yukon Route.

In 1998 and 1999, I was as an interpretive park ranger with Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park while in 2000 I became a Train Agent for the WP&YR. With my cameras, I documented many of the events that occurred.

The purpose of this web site is to document the recent events with particular attention to the railroad. If interested in more general Skagway, NPS or other non-railroad events I found interesting, visit my other web site. As a railroad site, I realize that I'm attempting to cover a lot of material as I hope this site will serve as a sample of a WP&YR excursion for visitors, as a site covering many of the rare or unique events that occurred in this three year period, as a source of information or photos for the railfan, and finally as an inside look at the WP&YR from the train agent's perspective.

For the prospective visitor to Skagway wishing to ride the WP&YR, my page devoted to the Lake Bennett Adventure may be my best offering of what a visitor may experience on a WP&YR excursion. For the true railfan, I offer in my Links page access to more detailed websites needed by the railfan. For those with a specific interest in the WP&YR, Boerries Burkhardt's site describes how to join an email group of true WP&YR fans.

I hope you enjoy this site. Please vote on who is the president of the WP&YR and vote as well on Rob's neck tie, visit my guestbook or even add a guestbook entry yourself. For specific questions, suggestions, corrections and all other information about this site or my other photographic resources, please email me. Enjoy and stop back often as this site is undergoing revisions and additions regularly!
